Older posters and signs from the traditional Montserrat neighborhood in Buenos Aires inspired Juliet Ulaanovsky to create this typeface and preserve the beauty of the urban typography that emerged in the early 20th century. If urban development moves to this place, it will never return to its original form and will forever lose the creations that are so special and unique. The letters that inspire this project are work, commitment, care, color, contrast, light and life, day and night! These are the boys who make the city so beautiful. The Montserrat project began with the rescue of Montserrat and was released under the SIL Open Font License, a free license.

They are a normal family and so far have two sister families, Alternet and Subrayada. The Tern Lનેrnet family has many periodical specialties, while "Subrayada" means "underlined" in Spanish and celebrates the underlining of a particular style contained in the letters of the Montserrat neighborhood.

Updated November 2017: The family was rebuilt by Jack Le Bailey at the Baron von Fontaus during the summer, and a full set of weights was arranged to make it easier to use in the usual light and long text. In the fall, Juliet Ulanovsky, Sol Mats, and Juan Pablo del Pearl led the development of Cyrillic support in consultation with Carolina Giovagnoli, Maria Doreuli, and Alexei Vanyashin.

Old posters and signs in a traditional neighborhood called Montserrat inspired me to create a typeface that conveyed the beauty of urban typography from the first half of the 20th century. The goal is to preserve everything in Montserrat and free it under the SIL Open License, which is a free worker and open source license.

As urban development changes place, it will never return to its original shape and will forever lose creations that are very distinctive and unique. To draw letters, I rely on the example of letters in urban areas. Each selected example creates its own types in terms of length, width, and height, each of which is added to the Montserrat family. Older typologies and canopies have changed as they have changed.

There are other revivals, but they do not stop anywhere near the roots. The letters that inspire this project are work, commitment, care, color, contrast, light and life, day and night! These are the boys who make the city so beautiful.

It is a regular family and so far there are two sister families, Alternet and Subrayada families. In the meantime, there are many magazines in the Alternate family
